Create a Plan

Set up a yearly plan with goals for a staff member.

Go to Staffarrow-up-right and open the staff member's profile

Select Professional Development from the sidebar

Select Create Plan for the relevant year

You can create plans for the current year, or for next year (from October onwards).


Adding Goals

Plans contain two types of goals:

Annual Targets — ongoing development goals measured by hours or activity count

  • Example: "Complete 10 hours of industry currency activities"

  • Progress updates automatically as staff log approved activities

Specific Activities — individual tasks with a due date

  • Example: "Attend Leadership Workshop by March 31"

  • Completed when an approved activity is linked to the goal

To add a goal, open the plan and select Add Annual Target or Add Specific Activity.

Each goal needs:

  • A competency area it relates to

  • A target (hours or activity count for Annual Targets)

  • A due date (required for Specific Activities)


Tracking Progress

Goals show their status as staff complete activities:

Status
Meaning

On Track

Progress is on schedule

Behind

Falling behind expected progress

At Risk

Overdue or significantly behind

Complete

Goal achieved

The plan summary shows overall progress and highlights any goals that need attention.


What Happens Next

  • Staff can view their plan in the Staff Portal under My Professional Development

  • When staff log activities, they can link them to specific goals

  • Only approved activities count toward goal progress
